Schmidt's Candies - Margie Schmidt Class of 1977 featured on WABC-TV

If you grew up in Woodhaven, Queens or the surrounding area, surely you must have visited Schmidt's Candies on Jamaica Avenue, right off Woodhaven Blvd. near 94th Street. Proprietress Margie Schmidt, Class of 1977, has continued the family business started by her grandfather in 1925 into a 3rd and 4th generation. The shop was featured by ABC-TV as part of their New York Holiday Show. The good news is that now you don't need to live in Woodhaven or even in Queens to enjoy Schmidt's marvelous candy confections. You can visit the store and order online very easily. Don't expect any store-bought type chocolates, though. These are all hand-made from original recipes right in Schmidt's own kitchen by Margie herself. The ribbon candy is true old-fashioned hand-pulled ribbon candy, not the mass-produced box candy canes. Every type of candy is a winner and, yes, Margie has sugar-free. Her molds are terrific!. Once you taste these chocolates, you will never go back to assembly line candy!
